PC-Dad                 Privacy Policy - GDPR

PC-Dad  (Jason Randall) seeks to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR and this is to inform you about your data and personal information and how I use it.

How I work

I have one A4 ‘Customer repair log’ as I call them per job, this can hold some or all of the following:

Personal Data

Your name / Address / Telephone / Email / How I was referred to you / Contact and fix dates

Details of your computer

Make / Model / Ram / Hard drive / Antivirus and expiry / Operating system and License Key – Used if need to reload windows (easier to obtain while computer working) / detail of how you access certain things such as emails (such as webmail or email program) and details of what software used or not used.

Passwords

Any passwords given to me verbally or written are again written on my repair log in order that I can carry out my work ie logon to a computer. If when working at a customer premises I will normally ask the owner to type this in.

Data

As part of my ongoing services  I sometimes observe and note the combined amount of data (Docs / Pictures / Desktop files / Videos / Music) to advise customers on what is needed for them to backup, replacement of hard drive normally as part of a previous discussion. This is simply the total number of files and folders.

Copying Data

When necessary (Ie windows has to be reinstalled or new hard drive needed) I will transfer (copy or move) to a blank USB external drive, as a temporary measure while work is carried out to avoid data loss, once work is done data is the transferred back to customer computer and deleted from the temporary storage.  Again this will have been discussed with customer, As part of backup conversations I offer to backup the users data to their supplied hard drive.

Any information you give me verbally or written or I collect from as above is not passed to any third party.
